Hey Guys!
Long time no blog! I think it’s actually been about a month which is a lot longer than I had planned. But as you’re probably aware, I’ve moved to London! It’s something that has been in the pipeline for a long time but I never really thought I would actually go. I was offered a job with MKTG in April, three weeks before I left and it was just too good an opportunity to pass up. Exciting Times!! I definitely think I’ll end up in Ireland eventually, so I figured now is the time to go and experience living and working in other parts of the world and get out of my comfort zone!
It’s probably one of the biggest decisions I’ve ever had to make because there were so many little things (and big things) to sort out before I moved and especially after I arrived and I’m not going to lie, it was a LOT. I held it together fairly well until the first weekend when I literally said to myself “What the F*** have I done?!”. But my hour of despair ended and I just got on with it. To be honest, I knew it was going to happen at some stage because I hate change but I’ve learned to deal with it a bit better than I used to!
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick check-in and share a few photos of what I’ve been up to in the midst of settling into life in London. I’ve already been home once and I’m definitely going to be hopping over and back for the next while because I’ve a good few events and things on at home, so I’m slowly building up my air miles with Aer Lingus!
As you can imagine, the list of cute coffee shops and Saturday excursions are endless in London so I’m really trying to make an effort to see and do as much as I can! I’ll definitely do another blog post on the best insta-spots because let’s face it, we all take those quality insta opportunities into account when planning our cafes!
But I was lucky enough to have Mam over the week after I moved- she was just checking on me really! And as a surprise she booked us into a hotel in Kensington for the night, so at that stage, I hadn’t even found a house yet and I was off staying in a hotel! But two days later, I got sorted with a house so I’m finally starting to properly settle in.
One of my favourite places since I arrived has been Covent Garden. I had obviously been to Covent Garden before I moved to London but it’s lovely to pop in for a coffee in the evening or just to walk around because there’s always something on or something to see!
I was actually at the Fleurs de Ville exhibition on Sunday and it was amazing, flowers everywhere! I know I love flowers more than the average person, but what they are able to do and the concepts they come up with are so cool to see.
I was also living in West London for the first two weeks after I arrived, so being 10 minutes away from Notting Hill had it’s perks! Breakfast on Portobello road became a Sunday habit- a two week habit haha! But even still, Gail’s has such an amazing selection and I definitely need to make a trip back soon.
I was also lucky enough to be invited to an amazing event last Tuesday evening by @love.cally– check out her insta! It was a Disney event called “A Taste of Agrabah” to celebrate the launch of the new Disney Aladdin film in Pergola Olympia London. It was a food market inspired event so we had a fantastic choice of dishes- both sweet and savoury and I even brought home a doggie-bag of desserts!
And I was also at an event with NARS last Saturday to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Orgasm collection. It was a sensorium so it was divided in to different rooms for each sense and of course, each room had numerous photo opportunities! Can’t wait to try all the products from the goodie bag- I don’t usually use NARS but the products look great! I’m sure Chloe will have some of them gone when I’m home for the weekend!
So I think that’s all for now I think, I’m going to try and get back into a regular blogging schedule after next week but we’ll see how that goes! I know I haven’t added anything about the logistics of moving to London into this blog- house-hunting etc but if you have any questions, drop me a message and I would be happy to chat! In a nutshell, Spareroom.com and various London groups on facebook are the best way to start the house hunt. I found my new house on Spareroom and I’m living in East London now which is super handy for work because it’s only a 20 min walk to the office- this is actually extremely hard to find in London!
Enjoy the weekend!
