Hi Guys!
Happy Halloween! 🎃 Hope you’re all having a lovely week! It’s great to have one less day this week and after an eventful week last week, I’m enjoying this lovely short week!So you might have seen on my Instagram last week that I had two photoshoots – as I said everything comes together! But one was specifically for this blog post on winterwear/coats that are available in Kilkenny. I really wanted to do something a bit different and try to involve local stores to showcase what Kilkenny has to offer and highlight that you don’t always have to shop online for your winter-wear. Obviously I know it can be easier to press a few buttons on your phone and magically a few days later, the courier van will drop a lovely package at the door. But it’s also great to support local businesses especially coming up to Christmas. Kilkenny has a huge range of shops that cater for every age and it’s great to know what’s available. So as I said the shoot was originally geared towards winter coats, but the stores were kind enough to actually supply more than just coats so you will get a better idea of what a whole winter look can be.
And before I get into taking about all the lovely clothes, I was so lucky to have the amazing Agnes Kealy doing my make-up for the day. Agnes originally worked with Urban Decay and is now back doing make-up for any occasion! I am definitely biased but I always love when Agnes does my makeup because it’s so natural but yet I feel like I’m done up for the day/night or whatever I’m going to. I just decided to pop in this throwback to the first time Agnes did my makeup at Callan and Co. and I was actually in awe of the makeup for the night! Here’s Agnes’ facebook page and Instagram so you can go check out all her makeup looks. and Agnes is available for bookings, just send her a DM and I’m sure she won’t mind!
So for the shoot, Agnes used Nars all-day weightless luminous foundation, Laura Mercier translucent powder, MAC dark mineralize skinfinish, SOSUME stick shade contour, Charlotte Tilbury sophisticate luxury palette, PS Sultry lashes and Inglot shade JLo and Rouge a levres for the lips.
The first outfit is from Penneys in Market Cross Shopping Centre. I paired the brown aviator jacket, grey jeans and a pink jumper with my own Asos boots- so don’t go into penneys thinking they’ll have the pink boots to match! 🙈 This was probably one of my favourite looks because it’s super affordable and so easy to wear. You can’t go wrong with grey jeans because they will go with nearly everything and the pink jumper was so cosy and soft. I went for the XS in the jumper and it was still massive so definitely size down in the jumpers!
The brown aviator jacket is a steal at €40 and it’s such a staple casual piece to have in the wardrobe. I have a pink aviator jacket myself and I wear it all the time, the shape of the jacket suits nearly everyone and you can actually look stylish and be warm at the same time!😂
These are a few other coats from Penneys that I love at the minute😍.
So this outfit is from Vero Moda in Market Cross. I know I’m supposed to be talking about coats, but the jeans I had for the outfit were actually amazing! They fit so well and were super comfy. I think out of everything I tried on, they are the one thing I’m going to have to go back and buy because you can never have enough pairs of jeans and I really loved them! They are Lucy Noisy May power shape skinny fit jeans and they are available in Vero Moda for €59.99. We put a red fur short jacket with the jeans and a white leotard top underneath. I love fur jackets for the winter- I have three or four at home) because you can put them with denim jeans for daywear or black skinnies and heels for a night-out or go for a more dressy look with a skirt/dress.Some other fab coats from Vero Moda:
The third look is from the Design Centre in Kilkenny. I wore a Barbour wax jacket over a Fisherman out of Ireland knit jumper accessorized with a Holden cross-body bag and a McKernan weavers scarf. I think it was great to include a wax jacket in the shoot because nowadays they’re probably not as popular among my age, but they really are so versatile and I loved it on. I had never really thought of shopping in the Design centre for jumpers but the wool one I wore for the shoot was actually so cosy and warm and they had lots more available in the shop. The jumper, scarf and bag are all made by Irish brands so when shopping in the Design Centre, you’re supporting local but also supporting Irish brands which I think is extremely important. I also think the scarf or jumper could be a great Christmas present idea because it’s lovely to get something a bit different but also useful for Christmas and the Kilkenny Design Centre have lots of great gifts available.
Scarf : Mckernan weavers Astrakhan merino wool scarf (€58.50). Bag: Holden leather Eithne cross-body bag (chestnut)(€375).Jumper: Fisherman out of Ireland- Donegal Feck (wildflowers) (€110). Jacket: Barbour wax jacket (€285).
The final outfit is from Wallis in Market Cross. Again honestly Wallis is not somewhere I would have considered for buying winter-wear for my age but I was so surprised with the fantastic choice they had! They have great casual and dressy jumpers and cute fur coats and there was actually a lot of things I would wear. I find Wallis can be aimed at a slightly older age but they really have added some more youthful lines recently so it’s worth a look. Wallis also have 30% off at the minute so pop in! This waterfall grey coat is great for a dressy look but can also be styled with jeans and boots for a more casual look.
Coat: Wallis Petite Waterfall coat €97 now €77.60.
Dress: Wallis Petite red paisley print dress €50 now €35.I want to say a huge thank you to Lesley and all the stores at Market Cross Shopping Centre and to Sinead from the Design Centre for all their help with this shoot! All the items featured are available in the above shops. And of course to Agnes for the amazing makeup and all of her help throughout the day, to John our photographer and also to the Stephouse Hotel in Borris!
Thanks so much for reading!
